Olympic junkie

Most of you probably don't know this about me, but I am an Olympic "junkie." I can't get enough of the Olympics-Winter or Summer. I'm as bad during the Olympics as my brother-in-law is during March Madness. I usually don't get a chance to watch the Olympic trials, but this year I think I have been able to watch most of them. They are almost as exciting as the Olympics themselves. I can't believe how many national and world records have been set throughout these trials. It was so fun last night watching swimmer Katie Hoff take back her title as world record holder in the 400M freestyle and set a new world record in the process. The second place finisher in the same race also beat the world record. The swimming trials were amazing, for some reason that water in Nebraska combined with the new NASA designed swimsuits is enabling records to be broken all over the place.

One of my favorite events in the Olympics is beach volleyball. Can you get any better than Misty May and Kerri Walsh. This may be their last year together in the Olympics, so they are definitely worth watching.

Two of the best

You can watch the trials online, since all of them are not broadcast on TV. Follow this link to watch the Olympic trials online. Go USA!!

Good friends.....good times!

I'd like to take this opportunity to say hello to my good friend and drinking partner, Jude. Hey, Jude! Don't have too much fun without me tomorrow.

The Kite Runner Review

I finished reading The Kite Runner today. It is an excellent book and I would highly recommend it. Yet, I don't think it is for everybody. It was a highly emotional book to read and I think one has to be in the right frame of mind to read it. It is about a young man who grew up in Kabul, Afghanistan until the time of the Russian invasion of that country and the subsequent rise of the Taliban. He lives with his father whose servant's son is his best friend. This is a touching, yet heartbreaking novel about love, life, and friendship, in addition to the parallel story of the troubles and wars in Afghanistan.

I have to ask myself, why we are just now hearing the stories of these terrible times and aweful crimes that took place in this country? How could things have turned out different? What could we have done?

Bored

I have been so busy lately that I decided I was going to be lazy today. Taking naps, surfing the net, blog stalking, etc. has pretty much been my day. I came across a fun site called bored.com where you can do some fun and interesting things. I took a personality test that paints a picture
according to the answers you give. I quite like my painting, I wouldn't mind having it on my wall. Here's my painting -
