Check one off the "Bucket List"

I have a list a mile long of goals and things I hope to accomplish in my life - my "Bucket List." I'll admit that some of them are pretty crazy, but that's what makes it fun. I was able to cross one thing of my "Bucket List" a few weeks ago when my friend and I took a week long vacation to San Francisco. Out in the middle of Nowhere, Nevada stands a lone tree. Most travelers just pass it by and don't pay it much attention-not me. You see this lone tree is quite famous. It's called "The Shoe Tree" by aficionados like me. For years people have been throwing their shoes high into The Shoe Tree catching them on other pairs thrown by past visitors. All these shoes drape and swing from the tree's many branches hanging, almost gloating, above the hundreds of pairs lying in the ravine below that just couldn't hang on. Years ago I saw a travel documentary that briefly talked about The Shoe Tree. I knew then that I just had to have my own pair of shoes hanging in that infamous tree. So, I took my second best pair of Sketchers along on the road trip to San Fran. When we arrived at the lone tree standing beside highway 50 in the middle of the desert, I was truly excited. I tied the laces together, positioned myself back a little from the tree, and wound up for my one chance to make it into the tree. The shoes sailed end over end up through the air until they reached their highest point and then fell right into the ravine. I was devastated. What was I going to do? My friend told me that we weren't leaving until my shoes made it into the tree and then she climbed down into the ravine and fished out my Sketchers. Only a true friend would do that! Well after about six tries, each resulting in another trip down into the ravine, we finally got those shoes up and into the very center of the tree. It was perfect!! They now hang next to an old brown pair of loafers and just a few feet from cowboy boots, pink high heels, steel toed work boots, a bra, and every other kind of shoe imaginable. There's another one off my "Bucket List."
